Deep Learning Indaba was formed in 2017 with a mission to strengthen African machine learning.

Monday, 10th September 2018 at 16.30: Naila Murray, senior research scientist and Group Lead, Computer Vision (CV) group will give a talk on Convolutional Models.

Abstract: In this lecture I will give a broad overview of convolutional networks and their applications. I will start with a recap of convolutional and cross-correlational operators and their variants, before covering how they are incorporated into neural networks. A discussion of methods for probing and interpreting convolutional networks will follow and I will conclude by sampling a few of the many convolutional models used today across a wide variety of applications, including those in vision, speech, text and social networks.
