We report on a study of the use of video in an organisation outside of a research laboratory, and in doing so,
discover two sets of issues that have significant implications for the use of video in real work contexts. The first
set of issues concerns the ways in which video provides support for organisational talk--in particular
problem-solving talk during geographically distributed meetings. The second concerns the issue of
organisational ownership of video technology and the ways in which this impacts the choice of which system
to use for what kind of meeting. We argue that such findings, which cannot be revealed through controlled
laboratory experimentation, complement our understanding of how video can support distributed work.
