Speaker: Anne Spalanzani, researcher at Chroma team, INRIA Rhône-Alpes, Montbonnot, France and associate professor at Grenoble Alpes University, Grenoble, France

This talk adresses assistive robotics and autonomous navigation in populated and dynamic environments. First, a large scale initiative on assistance and service robotics developed at INRIA will be presented. Then, the talk will focus on autonomous navigation using a wheelchair, dealing with human populated environments that require to simultaneously address several difficult issues:

  • detection and tracking of the moving obstacles,
  • prediction of the future state of the world,
  • integration of social conventions and on-line motion planning and navigation.
