Navigation among humans

This talk adresses assistive robotics and autonomous navigation in populated and dynamic environments. First, a large scale initiative on assistance and service robotics developed at INRIA will be presented. Then, the talk will focus on autonomous navigation using a wheelchair, dealing with human populated environments that require to simultaneously address several difficult issues:
- detection and tracking of the moving obstacles,
- prediction of the future state of the world,
- integration of social conventions and on-line motion planning and navigation.
